LINKTIMER GUIDE

Create a link that opens once

A one-time link is useful when a shared destination should be reached by one intended recipient and should not continue redirecting afterward. LinkTimer uses an intentional confirmation step so automated link previews do not use the single open.

What this option gives you

Confirmed human action

The counter changes after the visitor presses Continue, not when a messaging app creates a preview.

Destination preview

The recipient sees the target hostname before the one-time open is consumed.

Automatic shutoff

After the confirmed open, later visitors receive the expiry message or configured fallback.

Practical use cases

Private review pages

Share a proposal, draft, or portfolio review link with one intended reviewer.

Single-use onboarding

Provide a temporary route to an onboarding form or setup page.

Limited handoff

Pass a temporary resource between two people without leaving the shared redirect active.

Controlled invitations

Use a one-time redirect for a private invitation or limited registration flow.

How it works

  1. Enter the destination

Paste the public URL you want the recipient to reach.

  2. Choose confirmed opens

Select the open-limit mode and set the value to one.

  3. Send the LinkTimer URL

The recipient reviews the domain and presses Continue once.

Important limitation

A one-time redirect is not a replacement for authentication or authorization. If the destination itself is public, someone who knows the original URL can still access it directly.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as the one open?

A confirmed Continue action on the LinkTimer gate counts as an open.

Can the sender test the link first?

Opening through Continue consumes the open. Use the destination preview and account management tools rather than consuming a one-time link during testing.

Can I add a password?

Existing Pro and Business access can add password protection while paid subscriptions remain paused during beta.

Can I reset the counter?

Eligible link owners can edit the link and reset the confirmed-open counter when reactivating it.

Authoritative external resources

These links provide additional context from the destination provider or recognized security resources. External sites are responsible for their own content and policies.
