How LinkTimer Creates and Expires Temporary Links
LinkTimer separates the address you share from the public destination. The service stores the redirect rule, evaluates the expiry on the server and stops redirecting when the selected time is reached.
From destination to automatic expiry
2. Create
The selected duration is converted into a server-enforced expiration timestamp for the new temporary link.
3. Preview
Before continuing, recipients see the destination hostname rather than an undisclosed target.
4. Expire
When the expiration time passes, the shared LinkTimer address stops redirecting to the destination.
What LinkTimer does not do
It does not delete the destination
The original page, file or account remains controlled by its provider and owner.
It does not make a public page private
Use the destination provider's permissions when confidential access control is required.
It does not expose user links to search engines
Temporary, expired, invalid and private routes are excluded from the sitemap and served with noindex directives.
Important limitation
For sensitive material, combine URL expiration with the destination provider's own authentication and permission controls.
